Crash Boom
This morning we woke to a wet basement and to more flash flooding. Thankfully the flash flooding is far enough away from the house and buildings that we mostly observe and don’t worry much. The basement is simply from saturated ground. There is so much water that it is literally seeping through the floor.
And now right at this very moment I hear thunder.
I would complain about the rain but I was reminded today that it could be snow. So instead I think I’ll just acknowledge that I’m a bit weary of thunder.
Quickly
1. We heard the Des Moines Symphony this weekend. It was great.
2. A goose is setting a nest. I am hoping she hatches out some goslings.
3. Jr. learned to ride his bike with no training wheels. He is beyond delighted with himself.
4. Lil’B picked out his very own bicycle. I was a little shell shocked to learn he is to big for the “first bike” and is actually riding the same size as his brother.
5. His brother could actually use a new bike. But we’re waiting a bit for him to get a bit more experience as a newly minted no-training wheels rider before moving him up to a bigger bike.
6. 3 more weeks until we are free from the shackles of tax season.
7. I have eggs. Lots and lots of eggs. This is forcing me to review my list of recipes that use lots of eggs. I made an angel food cake the other day because it uses 12 egg whites.
8. This post is (more precisely my train of thought) is interrupted by the realization I forgot my dog (Harley) outside which means he’s potentially getting himself in trouble. Off to call him in!
A poem
Laundry in the morning.
Laundry at noon.
Laundry underneath the big blue moon.
Baskets on the chairs.
Baskets on table.
Baskets full of underwear.
His are folded.
Hers are folded.
Theirs are too.
Laundry is finished.
Until tomorrow….
as the pile is never long diminished.
This little poem is brought to you by Laundry Day at our house!
