Scenes from Christmas Day

Stockings & Jammies

Christmas Eve. My handsome boys showing off new jammie pants.

Simple Things are Fun

Lil’B is looking at his Star Wars stickers and Jr. is a twitter about his “Star Wars” markers.

Christmas Morning

I have no idea what he’s thinking here but he looks like he’s contemplating something awesome like waging battle or launching a siege!

The Fish

Jr. was so excited about his Santa present that it was hard to get a good picture. Add that to the fact that taking a picture of a fish is near impossible for me. I can assure you though from the half dozen or so blurry pictures I have that he was thrilled!

Christmas Day 2008

My favorite picture from Christmas Day. All day long they worked and played together.

Music Lessons

I finally made a decision about what class Lil’B will be taking this fall. I had considered putting him in Violin but we weren’t sure of so many things that I’m opting to wait on that idea. So Lil’B will begin in Piano. Perhaps he’ll transition later??

With Jr. it was seemingly easier. We plunked him in front of the piano and within days knew that we’d found something that spoke to him. Lil’B has always been a bit harder to pin down. This would be one of those moments where I’m sondering if my decisions for my son are more “right” than “not-right”. I realize that agony over the music lesson choice for a 4 year old probably seems a little silly.

So I’ll have two lessons this fall instead of one. That too has weighed on my mind whispering things about “busy”. I am determined to not overschedule us. But it does seem like I’m on standing in front of display with all these shiny, sparkly opportunities trying to pick the best choice for our family out of a dozens of sparkly, shiny, things. Which few things to pick? Which to leave behind? blah……..

But back to lessons. This I’m pleased with – I think. Their lessons didn’t match up at all for a same day option so I chose to have them be two days apart. To spread the driving and hopefully make it more likely that we can combine each lesson day with something else “out of the house”. We’re getting better at doubling-up though I still need some practice at getting to things on time. (Can we just say afflicition – late-itis is a chronic illness that flares up at odd moments usually with a small voice chiming “I need to go potty” directly after being buckled into the carseat or alternatively when a mama-brain chimes “you forgot “X” right after loading the kids up!)

State Fair 2008

Just a few highlights of our day at the State Fair.

Dragon Lil'B

Lil’B is making his dragon breathe “fire”

Repeat Jr.

Jr. has a repeat of last years face painting choice of skull and crossbones

Big Piggy Bank

We found the biggest piggie bank tucked back by the train exhibit. I was impressed with the work that the train modelers (is that even the right word?!) had done. The exhibit has gotten better and more intricate each year and continues to be a favorite stop of ours.

Jr. Swan Watching

Jr. watching the swans at the DNR exhibit.

Lil'B & Daddy - Swan Watch

Lil’B telling Daddy something neat about what he’s seeing at the DNR exhibit.
