Pay it forward

A few weeks ago I added Karisma and Kids to my google reader in a round finding new bloggers. I must admit that I was drawn to Karisma’s place simply because her house must mirror some of the wonderful chaos we have here in our own multi-generational household.

In Karismas’ own words:
The ramblings of nutty aussie mama of five very spirited kids, 3 dogs, a cockatiel with attitude, A Rat called Rupert and an Axylotl. Welcome to my world of children, homeschooling, crafting and coastal life in Australia………………

Yesterday I popped by to read her post Pay it Forward. I immediately jumped at this idea! What a great way to ease it to the Holiday spirit. A mindset that seems hard for me to find in any abundance in November and December. Sometimes I feel I’m more like the Grinch than Santa’s Elf! So I’m throwing out the offer to my first 3 comments to kick start my holiday spirit meter with some good old fashioned snail mail happy for other people!

Here the rules: The exchange focuses on doing an act of kindness without expecting anything in return other than that the recipient will, in their turn, pass the kindness along and pay it forward in their own way. This is how it works… I am going to agree to send something fun, inspiring or uplifting to the first 3 blog owners who post a comment on this entry (please leave your email address if I don’t all ready have it.)

In turn you will then post about this on your blog, link to me, then send something to the first three people who sign up to play along through your blog. There are no cost restraints, but don’t go crazy! The little something you send can be something you made, bought, were given or found. No biggie, just a gift that will make the person smile. Maybe something unique from where you live? And remember that kindness don’t have to involve money; there are untold ways to hello others every single
day, everywhere you go – just look around.”So there you have it! If you are up to sending out three times the love comment here and your it! The first three to comment, get a little love in the mail from yours truly! So don’t forget to email me with your addy if I don’t have it already!

It’s the pits

Cherry pits!

Our cherries are ripe so we’ve been outside picking and inside pitting. I was going to update with a photo but I’ve got 14 pounds of pitted cherries yet to process tonight so the end product will have perform “picture” duty. Am I sick of cherry pits – oh hell yeah. Props to Jr. for his help he pitted between a 1/2 to 1 pound which doesn’t sound like much until you’ve pitted a pound of cherries by hand.

We had a great weekend and hope you all did too! Lots of little things to talk about but here’s our weekend in a nutshell:

1. mama went to the farmers market while the men had a manly morning.
2. we reminded ourselves we are gardeners of the optimistic type and planted for fall harvest.
3. we picked cherries and found that our pear tree has lovely little future pears!

How was your weekend?
