Pains in the….
I have a literal pain in the neck today. I pinched something that is making it hard to move much less function well. I’m hoping it will stretch out by tomorrow. At the moment it is pretty tight and uncomfortable. So I’m going to keep this just a bit short and quick!
I’ve got a shipment coming or at least I hope it is coming for our next unit in Science. I ordered it almost three full weeks ago if not four. Why it is taking so very long to process I’m not sure but it is a bit of a pain. Mostly because I’m having to alter our course for not a few days but for a few weeks. The boys don’t care but it messes with my organization in my head. I’m still working on the whole organizing our homeschooling OUTSIDE of my head. It is a work in progress that’s for certain.
Harley the wonder dog is being a pain in my butt. Or more precisely a pain in my trashcan! Why or why must that dog shred tissues? Ewww! And Yuck! Thank goodness he hasn’t figured out that the fluffy, white sheets of fun come by the box full and that we have them all over our house!
All in all given that I was somewhat immobile today we had a good day. Piano was practiced. Math was done. History was talked about and we took care of a few small cleaning projects around the house. And even though I had my literal pain in the neck I felt good at getting the house a little more straightened. Rights my world a bit. Well provided I ignore the chaos that is in the schoolroom behind me. We just won’t talk about that today…mmm kay.

Grace in Small Things #50
1. a little boy that is big enough to help mama mix up breakfast when her neck really hurts
2. pulling supper out of the freezer and having it be yummy to boot
3. jr.’s story about a frog and a fox. And the amazing way a boy can turn 5 sentences into animal carnage. “And the fox ate the frog up!”
4. digging through all the papers and miscellaneous junk to find the top of my kitchen table
5. putting another box in my pile to got OUT of the house when it thaws.
**bonus grace** not having that many visitors in the winter which allows me to stack up the boxes in front of the front door!
Taking this road on the show
heh….
I didn’t type it that way on purpose. It actually came out that way instead of the proper “show on the road” but it is appropriate to be mixed up and muddled today. I’m a little mixed up and muddled! Happens anytime I start getting the family ready to travel. I have lists of lists to check off to make sure that we have all that we’ll need for two small boys, a mama, a daddy and…..a puppy.
As much as we’d like to leave him at home with Gramps there is an equally large desire to make sure the puppy doesn’t go about digging holes and eating things he shouldn’t. Which is exactly what he does if he’s let outside alone. Plus there is a 10 acre dog park where we’re headed that he loves, LOVES to run in. So we’re taking our traveling dog with us. Gabbie and Buster opt to stay home with the Grandparents as both of them prefer not to ride in the car. Even the vet is almost to much to ask of them. Harley though he’ll go anytime we ask.
Are there indistructible dog toys?
Harley is a chewing machine. He’s already chewed through four knotted string toys, two knotted balls, four tennis balls…..and well you get the idea. Last week I picked up a new think rubber toy for $10 – he chewed through it in less than a week later. I’ve been picking up small bits of green toy all week. Thankfully he’s not actually eating it! Just shredding it into tiny pieces for me to pick up!
Today I went to the store and picked up yet another rubber toy which is hopefully completely solid. Perhaps this one will last longer. I marvel sometimes at Coco over at Dooce.com. (I also marvel at Chuck but mostly at the training Wow. Awesome.) But back to the toys – Coco’s squirrel toy, which was picture a long time back, is apparently still intact since it appeared recently in one of the photos. I find this very interesting. Harley would have disemboweled it on the second day. Kind of like he did to the couch when he had a people free moment.
My dear hubby jokingly suggested the tire off the van. I suggested we could give him the chew bone (as in real bone hard and heavy) back but honestly my toes are still stinging from when he dropped it down the stairs onto my foot. He’s a bit of a menace hauling it around and dropping it on people’s feet. I’ll probably give it back after he’s finished chewing the crap out of the green one he’s got at the moment. It will buy us a few days (till he drops it on me again) to find something alternative.
So we’re looking for practically indistructible dog toys. Any ideas?
