Today we revamped our toad tank. Which actually is more the critter tank considering our lady mantid is in there as well. Digging through the old tank we found one very fat toady. He was the largest one the boys caught and judging from his present size has been enjoying the tank fare (crickets, worms and tiny hoppers).

We upgraded them to an old fish tank I had back in the day. It’s got plenty of space for the toads (our original two and an infirmary toad we found the other day). And enough room for a few logs. I’ll see if I can get a decent picture just for fun.

In other critter news our Lady Mantid laid her eggs. I can’t recall if I posted that out. We’ve got the egg sack in a jar and I’ve moved it to a cool cupboard. I’m hoping that we manage to successfully get it to next spring AND that the eggs were fertilized. Wish us luck as we’re very new to mantid reproduction/development!

peony white

for you to look at.

I’m missing my lovely peonies today along with lots of the other colors of summer. In someways I’ll be glad when snow arrives and rids my visual world of the browns. It’s late and I’m still battling a headache so just a short note tonight.
