I’m not sure what I’m thankful for today. I know somewhere in this mess of a day I have something to be thankful for somewhere.

But it was a long day. With lots of getting afters and talking. I have a headache and my throat hurts from all of the noise I was making today.

Between the puppy and the boys and the rest of life I am a little wiped out.

So I guess I’ll just leave it at I am thankful for knowing I should be thankful.

I stayed up late last night? or maybe that should be early today to listen to our President speak.

I am thankful that I did.

And I am thankful for hope.

Hope that we’re not as divided as we seem. That there will be progress these next four years. That we can find common ground.

But most of all I am thankful that I am not afraid. I am not afraid of the new demographics of the United States.

Because today so many seem to be afraid of just that.

We voted today! That was important. But what I am thankful for is my tiny polling place. I was able to take my kids with me knowing they would be left at the front of the room without supervision. But that it didn’t matter since the room is literally 20 feet wide. While at the front of the room they were greeted by a few friendly towns people and by one that they actually knew. Even with the polling place busy my voting didn’t take very long and soon we were on our way again.
