Stretch

Goodness I’m out of practice. My fingers feel stiff and my mind feels sluggish. That is what a long and busy summer has done to me. These past months I’ve often felt like my projects are running me rather than me running my projects. But Fall is on its way. I can feel it in the air and in my resolve to make my garden grow. I am weary after a wet June and a HOT July. August has thus far been much nicer to me but I’m not counting my good days just yet. That ever present heat and humidity lurks at the edges of my thoughts.

I am proud of my boys. They hauled a lot of water and did a lot of checking during our massive heat wave. They trooped out into the heat to care for their animals without much complaint. I do believe I am indeed raising Farm Boys.

And maybe I’m becoming a farmer too.

Just a list

1. Boy the younger finished up Gauge by Chris D’Lacey. I really do adore his series for younger readers.

2. Boy the older is taking a clay project to fair. I’m quite proud of this one because it is completely of his own desire and thought. Bonus is it’s turned out rather nice for a first attempt.

3. I was re-reading a trilogy of mine and once again realized I love series and in particular trilogies.

4. We are considering a cat for the younger boy. He wants a pet. We looked at turtles and tortoises but sometimes the simplicity of a food bowl, water bowl and a litter box along with heaps of love and attention seems like a better choice.

5. I want to go pick blueberries. The goats ate almost all of two of my tiny blueberry bushes setting them back almost an entire years worth of growth. Sad face.

Goats are a new experience for us.
Already I can say this much life with goats is never dull.
