Welcome to my little corner of the internet...

I snapped this picture this morning. It was absolutely beautiful out. I am so happy with how this turned out! It is sometimes so difficult to take a good picture in the blinding snow light. I can’t actually see very clearly in the viewfinder and the LCD screen is worthless. Straight out of the camera shots that look this good seem harder to achieve as my camera ages.

My fingers have been itching lately to knit. And so knit I have. In fact I’ve been knitting so much that I’ve neglected to do other things like sew or blog or write letters. Those things are still in my mind though. I have a goal to make myself a couple of dozen new neatly hemmed napkins this year. We’re going through the stack of napkins I have now in less than a week. That is what making napkins and refusing to buy paper towels will do to a family. I still use paper towels for some jobs but we’re buying many less rolls than we were last year. I just can’t quite sacrifice a fabric napkin to the wiping out my cast iron yet. And I’m not altogether certain how my washer would react to an oil filled napkin.

On the knitting front I’m making good progress on my hat and pretty good progress on the ribbing of another hat. My speed has picked up in the last year which is nice. And I’m finally understanding more about tension or rather how to adjust MY tension so that my stitches are consistent. In comparison to some I’m probably still a turtle slow knitter but maybe one that has “running” shoes on now! I’m delighted with the yarn that I picked for my hat. I can’t wait to take a picture. I thought to try to snap one today but forgot to get one of my boys to help. The hat is all stocking (stockinette) stitch so it’s rolling up.

I would think it were very beautiful, if I didn’t hate winter so much, and I was not wishing I could move to Florida right now. But it is a good picture.

I might think it were beautiful if I knew it was going to go away sometime in the NEAR future, but *sigh* no such luck. Maybe if we really get rain instead of freezing rain this weekend…….. but then new problems right?

Ah life in Iowa….. Could be worse, could be in Haiti.
