A week or so before this picture was taken our Jr. walked to the creek with his Grandpa to gather some creek mud.
The night this picture was taken we were looking at the creek mud and how it had settled into the various layers. You can clearly see the sand and then the silt on top. We also began to look for macro invertebrates.
Here you can see them looking at several worm-like creatures in the silt. We were able to see several worms and a piece of aquatic grass. Did you know creek mud could be this interesting?

Oh I bet they had fun with that. We did something similar a couple of years back. Except we took trays down to the lake and and scooped up bits and piece from the reeds with nets. It was amazing how much sea life we found in such a small area. Things you would never normally notice. Baby shrimp, fish, worms, leaves, seaweed etc. The kids were fascinated at the time. Oh dear, now Im feeling guilty again, we used to do so much fun educational stuff. These days I seem too strapped for time.
This looks likes SOOO much fun!
