Taking a week off….
We had a tense day or two last week navigating some vision issues with our Jr. or more precisely playing a stressful game of elimination to arrive at the conclusion that his vision issues had nothing to do with his fall earlier in the week or anything else that we had going on. I now believe it was just an unfortunate convergence of events that had us leaping from normal to panic.
Things to know:
Jr. is fine though he sees funny because of a convergence insufficiency though since we’ve stopped TALKING about it he’s not being bothered with any daily activities. Reading = fine. Video games = fine. Eye Exercises = still funny so he’s doing them.
This may require more intervention than the “pencil push ups” assigned by our Eye Doctor.
Asking a 7 yr old questions about when something started happening is …just awful. Especially when you have other things that could have perpetuated the problem IF the problem was related to the fall which I now suspect it wasn’t. If you think that is confusing now imagine being a freaked-out mama.
Things to also know:
I saw my husband once last week. His hours are at the peak of the season.
My kids are needing a teensy break from mama and Mama is needing a teensy break from them. We aren’t hearing each other very well which makes for long and difficult days.
This is the busiest week of the entire tax season because we have several extra events this week. This week also includes a trip for my husband. I would really like it to be a good week…..
Conclusion: I am taking a blog break this week. I need sometime to research Jr.’s eye thing and just some time to decompress. I imagine I’ll still be on twitter but I’m just not up to focusing on actual content here. Though I may post some of those pictures that are on my camera since I did find my camera cord tonight! Content though will come back next week or rather the daily musings of my frazzled mind….which I am not sure qualifies as “content”.
HA HA HA HA!!

Sorry to hear about all the stress! Especially with all the news media about head injuries lately. Ugh!
My middle son was diagnosed with a convergence insufficiency by an optomotrist when he was around 6 years old. The eye doctor insisted that the only thing that would help was expensive therapy that our insurance didn’t cover. Before we spent a lot of money, we took him to an opthamologist (MD) at the Large Specialty Clinics for a second opinion and they ruled it out. He had other explanations for my son’s eye issues – all which got better over time. Not that it always happens that way.
May your week away from the blog be as stress-free as possible this time of year. Take care!
Lynanne’s last blog post..Still crazy
Here here! We could go ahead and start a blog breaks anonymous! LOL (Sorry I could not help myself, all my friends seem to be in the same boat right now, we are all running for the real world! Whats with that for gods sake?)
I hope Jnr is feeling better and has no long term problems and I hope you get that little break. I am a strong believer in little breaks for mama’s, they are very important for your sanity. Take it from an expert over here! Ive nearly lost it a few times.
We have been flat out busy and have gone from being hippy homeschoolers back to a more classical approach. I guess I love the unschooling, child led learning but one of my boys, Adem is lazy and would do nothing. Zak really loves to choose but also needs a little structure. We have gone to doing half half. School in the mornings and child led exercises in the afternoons. Its working wonders! (It does help that I worked in the school system for 15 years as a volunteer! I used to take the class for the teachers a lot, so while Im not a qualified teacher I have pretty much been there done that and worked with so many kids I can tell what each one needs or not). Mine need some structure to keep them interested.
The other day I left them with their sister while I did the grocery shop and came home expecting them to have not finished their work, lo and behold they had not only completed all but were sitting at the table doing drawings with pastel chalks! Even A who hates art! Amazing, I fully expected them to be on the computer as usual. Wonders will never cease hey?
Anyway enough about me, you take care and have a good rest and break. Hugs and smoochies xxxoooxxxoooxxxoooxxxooo
