We’ve had a good week. But an off week. One of those weeks where we’ve not really gotten much from our list done but where we’ve gotten to do lots of things. We’ve tuned the piano…or rather had it tuned. We’ve played games. We’ve played outside. Lots of good things. And a really nice “off week”. Tomorrow we’re going to play catch up with some house cleaning. And laundry. On one hand this is boring work but necessary so I’m hoping to have a music and cleaning morning.

When it comes to writing I have found that giving mine a chance to read more helped his writing. I didn’t ask him to write anything for a month or two and then we started up with creative writing again where he gets to write whatever he wants for 15 minutes. I don’t care what he writes, but he has to write. He has been told not to focus on spelling, but just putting thoughts on paper. We call it brain vomit, gross, but he likes to think of it this way. I also got him some computer games that teach him spelling without him knowing it. We play scrabble, too. He is doing much better in his writing. It still isn’t his favorite thing to do, and that is okay. Not everyone is destined to be a writer, but he can write when he needs to. Boys also develope differently than girls. They tend to enjoy math and strategy first. I know many men who became very creative writers, but not until highschool. This is not advice. It is just my experience, my brain vomit, if you will.
Just noticed I responded to the wrong post. I’m sure you can figure it out though.
Sometimes an off week helps kids focus the next week. Ahhh, the beauty of homeschooling
