“Mama you better hurry up! ” So said my Jr. this morning when he crossed off the day on his countdown calendar. “We’d better hurry up on all our presents!” How adorable it is to watch him worry over the gifts we are giving this year. We have a few small things to finish up which will most likely get done tomorrow and the next day. I finished up a project today. Mr. Numbers and I are working on the super secret last THING logistics too. It goes something like this:
Mama: So about that thing that needs that space?
Daddy: Yeah?
Mama: I was thinking about putting it here *indicates space* but we’d need to move the chair.
Daddy: On the floor? What about power
Mama: What? Power?
Daddy: …
Mama: it has a tripod.
Daddy: You mean that THING. I thought you meant that other thing.
Mama: …
Mama: *thinking of all the various “things” currently hidden in the house* K’. We weren’t talking about the same thing were we.
Daddy: I don’t think so….
Gingerbread Houses 2008
We have been busy in the kitchen this past week! We finished up our construction project late Thursday. The boys immediately wanted to start eating off all the decorations. Reminder for next year let them build the graham cracker version and keep the takes hours version for yourself alone! It was a lot of fun but being the wonderful children they are – they didn’t quite understand why after 3 hours of baking, 3 hours of building and an hour decorating that I wasn’t really wanting them to EAT it.
It is frigid cold here. And well alot of places actually. We’re benefiting in one way as the temps are driving the birds to our feeders. Though I couldn’t quite get a good shot of all of them together there were actually 4 woodpeckers on the tree in this picture. They kept hopping/climbing round the tree and bickering over the food. We even managed to see TWO red headed (but not a “Red Headed Woodpecker”). They are our most shy birds at the feeder so we were delighted to see two of them at once!

Those look great! I’m so impressed.
downy woodpeckers and northern flickers are awesome. flickers are often seen eating ants off the ground when it’s warm out.
Now mama, they built it and decorated it! Take the picture and LET THEM EAT IT! ( Sorry I have turned into one of those “old” parents ) Very not controlling anymore! I had my fussy days with the girls now I live for their enjoyment. Can’t wait for grandkids. My nephew got a very noisy childsafe remote control car off his Aunty Karisma this year. My brother simply looked at me and laughed. This is payback isnt it? You betcha my boy, you betcha! I did warn them that they would have kids one day! They are just lucky I did not get him a drum set! Hang on, my own kids almost got that! He he! Daddy said no and got them Guitar Hero World tour. Nice, very nice. The girls made lots of noise with that one! LOL! Ahhh but a good time was had by all.
