Even though we ran errands Monday. Successfully completing our whole list and only forgetting a few things off the grocery list (like the coffee…..how could I forget the ccccooooffffffeeeee???). We have still managed to contract a case of cabin fever! In August you say?? Yep but its not our fault its the weathers and the bugs.

Monday night and most of Tuesday it poured rain. WET. MUDDY. Oh yeah. Which of course meant we weren’t getting outside, so the boys’ quickly morphed into goblin children. And they spent Monday and Tuesday bickering, being ornery and generally enjoying thier ability to irritate mommy in 0.3 seconds. I wasn’t helping much either since I was grumpy too.

See that fuzz??? That’s the rain!!

Then last night (Tuesday) we were walking around the house having braved the wet lawn to grab a moment of fresh air! When a horrid, horrid bug landed on Jr.’s leg. He bent down to swat it away when it bit/stung him. He erupted with this terrible scream of pain and immediately started crying. So I grabbed him and ran to the house while telling Lil’B to follow and follow now. Amazing (I am so proud of him!!) Lil’B who was very concerned about his brother did follow me to the house! Meanwhile I got Jr. in the house and put an ice cube on his leg. That dulled the pain which helped calm him a little bit. We took a look and it appeared to be a bite so we thought he’d been gotten by a deer fly. Fast forward 12 hours to about 1pm today (Wednesday). Jr. and I ran outside to look for something we though Lil’B had perhaps left outside. I checked the sandbox and was walking back toward Jr. who was standing….yep that’s it STANDING by a tree! When he lifted his hand to again swat at a bug again. Only this time I saw it too. Damn if I didn’t make it again. And double damn if that bee/wasp didn’t sting him! Again he was screaming and crying though this time a stinger was left behind so I grabbed him hauled him into the house again. Grabbed Grandpa to help keep his hands still and get the stinger removed. (For those that don’t know if you scrape the stinger out with an upward motion and do not squeeze it you will reduce the toxins that are released). See that redness around his eye!!

So now we think that perhaps last evening’s episode was a wasp/bee sting. Which means my poor little guy has gotten exposed to bee/wasp toxin twice in less than 24 Hours!! We (Gramps and I) tried to find the bug we swatted but when we went out to see it was very apparent that there is a ground dwelling semi-agressive bee/wasp colony in the rock garden next to the house.
This is obvisously a problem given the past 24 hours.

So we were back in the house today since it will take us a day or two to rid ourselves of the bee/wasps who have built thier home in the wrong spot. I don’t want to risk getting Jr. stung again since with each sting he runs the risk of getting a stronger allergic reaction. At least that’s how it runs with others in our family.

And it gets better because here I am trying to get the blog updated with a tiny update. Which I have had to stop to put the Lil’B back in bed four times. After having let him stay up late because he was convinced he needed to play more! So now its 11:00PM and Lil’B is still awake trying to convince me he doesn’t really need sleep.

Though I don’t want to end on a whiny note so I will end with this instead. Our Caterpillar Project has completed its lifecycle. Check out our updated photoshow to see our very own Jr. with his butterflies.
